Meet Christine Chaney: artist, designer, modern woman with a mean crochet hook.
Born to frugal and crafty parents (Mom sewed clothing, Dad made furniture), Christine always knew she was destined to be a maker of things. After graduating from Ball State University’s College of Architecture in Indiana and heading west, she landed in Seattle and found herself entwined in both art and architecture.
Crocheting art installations with yarn made from thrift store t-shirts led Christine to her reconstrucTEES creations: casual wear made from reconstructed post-consumer clothing. Meant to be as comfortable at home as they are flattering out on the street, her dresses transform mundane matter into something sustainable, modern and fun.
Visit our women’s clothing section to see some of Christine’s adorable red and grey creations. We love the fit of the dresses and the roomy pockets – and so do our customers.
